The Course Study Quandary

Potential is meant to be without limit — but this isn’t the grace you expected it to be. The quest for higher education has been met with endless choices and possibilities: each seemingly better than the last, each demanding your attention. A course of study must be chosen; but such a choice is proving to be… challenging. All degrees appeal. All classes warrant investigation. There is not enough time to sample them all but you’re tempted still to try. There can be no harm in that, you believe. Selecting a variety of majors will only strengthen your mind, ensure that all knowledge is gained.

It will also ensure that your career path is weakened.

The great worry of all college students is the courses they must study — and how to pick the proper ones. Too often do individuals choose a collection of degrees, wanting to indulge in their many passions, believing this will prove them to be more competent later.

The truth is not so flattering, however. Possible employers will not be impressed by a wealth of diplomas. They’ll instead be seeking specific training. All candidates must provide specialization, not merely happy experiences. These suggest fickle interests and waning attentions — traits that are not wanted within the business world.

It is vital therefore that all students choose courses that reflect their intended goals. All majors should be relevant to careers, rather than simply offering unfocused hours. While achieving a minor is possible (and even encouraged), most of the classes must relate to industry. This is to guarantee knowledge and offer employers assurance.

Higher education is not an excuse for excess: trying to stuff the semesters with endless degrees is unwise. Choose instead to find courses that define the future and will assist with a career. Study what you must; earn what you need; and devote yourself to relevancy. The result will be success.
