It’s a single slip of paper, a sprawl of words and promises — your resume has been carefully formed, all talents offered, all skills identified. It’s a tribute to your prowess. It’s a validation of your good sense.
It’s also, however, proof of your lack of an education.
And the consequence of this is a polite dismissal — with a would-be employer offering you a smile and a fake assurance. The expression is too damning to be denied.
An all too sad truth is that high school graduates may find themselves unable to obtain the careers they want, simply because they didn’t continue with their education. The pursuit of a degree is thought to be a waste of time; and students choose instead to enter the work-force, unaware that the positions they crave will inevitability be refused — because, while they may offer enthusiasm, they can’t provide college experiences. And employers don’t favor such lapses.
It is estimated that candidates who have sought higher education are more than twice as likely to be chosen during interviews than those who haven’t. Resumes that offer mere talents are often overlooked for ones that offer degrees; and individuals without some form of university background will be typically ignored — even if they are capable of performing the duties involved.
Seeking out an education is essential therefore. All students must be willing to take the necessary courses and gain knowledge. This is not simply to learn for the sake of it. It’s instead the ability to earn a wanted lifestyle, generate the needed wages. Careers can be chosen; companies can be conquered; and all resumes will appear worthwhile. Candidates must continue with their education — and this includes you.
